Amongst today’s selection for day 20 of the Christmas T-Shirt Countdown is a slightly politically charged number with some strong words – who’d have thought people could get worked up over tinsel?!

The slightly offensive tinsel t-shirt I’m referring to is the Fuck Tinsel design featured below. It comes from the Australian company Squeaky Tee. Their point, and to be honest it’s a pretty good one, is that Christmas isn’t all that environmentally friendly, generating millions of tonnes of landfill and carbon dioxide emissions from the gifts that are exchanged. All this waste and often the gifts don’t get used much beyond Boxing Day! If you want to read more, check out their site which includes their Top 10 ways to have a green Christmas. By the way, if you purchase their t-shirt, they’ll plant a tree for you, so that should ease some of the guilt.

I guess not too surprisingly tinsel isn’t a big theme for t-shirts and there aren’t that many tinsel t-shirts out there. Having said that I do very much like the Tinsel Distracting design from Cafe Press based Boyersmile Graphics.
